Some Tips and Guides for Planning and Measuring

Measuring Doors
Measuring Doors
Measurements must be taken from the inside of the door, as the outside often includes patterns which may lead to measurement errors.

Measure across the top of the door to get the Width and from bottom to top to get the Height.

Measurements should be recorded in millimetres (mm) and written as Height (H) x Width (W) e.g., 570mm H x 496mm W.

When specifying Right or Left-hand hinge drilling, imagine the hinge as you look at the door, from the front, with the door closed.
Hinge drilling is measured from the top or bottom edge of the door to the centre of the hinge hole.

Hinge drilling is measured from the top or bottom edge of the door to the centre of the hinge hole.

Make a Sketch & List
Make a Sketch & List
Start by drawing simple, front views of each section of your kitchen design. Make sure you include any changes you are making to the layout of the room, also making a separate sketch for each wall.

Make a list or table, showing number of doors and their dimensions. Be sure to make a note if hinge drilling is required, and which side the handle needs to be positioned.

Don’t forget to include any extra accessories which may be required, such as carcasses, end panels, plinths and handles. End panels come in a standardised depth of 20mm, so please take this into account when making your measurements (for most colours, a thin vinyl alternative is available where space is tight).

Finally, take a moment to review your sketches and list to make sure all aspects are considered. It’s a good idea to get someone independent to check over what you’ve written down, as a fresh pair of eyes are more likely to spot any errors.

Measuring hinge hole centres
Measuring hinge hole centres
Doors as a standard will be issued without hinge holes drilled. If you require us to drill the holes you will need to specify the distance from the top or bottom of the door when placing your order.

Measurements must be taken from the inside of the door, as the outside often includes patterns which may lead to measurement errors.

Measure from the edge of the door to the centre of the hinge hole, then provide the size in millimetres (mm).

Remember, if you are making any alterations to the door size or position, this will have to be taken into account when specifying hinge hole centres.

Matching panels any size
Matching panels any size
We can provide end panels, work top support panels, filler panels, corner post kits and plinth/kickboards to suit all of our kitchen and bedroom doors.

These are provided in a standardised thickness/depth of 18mm.

If 18mm board is too thick, there is peel and stick matching vinyl available to suit most colours.

At 620mm wide, the sheets are available in 1000mm (one metre) lengths. We also provide 22mm wide pre-glued edging tape, which provides a neat finish to the edging of the vinyl.

Peel & Stick Matching Vinyl
Peel & Stick Matching Vinyl
If you are unable to use 18mm matching end panels, we offer peel and stick sheet material in most colours. At 620mm wide, the sheets are available by the linear meter.

22mm wide Pre glued edging tape is also available in all ranges and colours to complete the panel transformation.

Measuring for Drawers
Measuring for Drawers
To measure your drawers, we need the unit width; the runner length is 450mm as standard. Follow the steps in the product page for easy ordering of complete drawers.
